via Google Blog: Remembering my dad, Jim Henson, by Brian Henson → googleblog.blogspot.com

Brian Henson’s remembrance of his father, Jim Henson.  It is a great tribute to Jim and the last line really stayed with me:

‘Every day for him was joyously filled with the surprises of other people’s ideas. I often think that if we all lived like that, not only would life be more interesting, we’d all be a lot happier.’

New FX Animation Post: Lightning Ball → vimeo.com

I did some digital matte painting work on this to turn it into a night shot, then I animated the ball, reactive light and lightning.

Also on my vimeo site I used Dom’s advice on my last post and added a warm rimlight to the Warrior Sunset.

via Cartoon Brew: Real-time facial substitutions → cartoonbrew.com

It’s getting creepy.  Substitute a famous face over your own.  This gives a whole new dimension to the term avatar.  It looks a bit crude here but imagine the technology even five years into the future.  Amazing.

Scared of Heights? → io9.com

This video contains no special effects, and no fancy stunts. But it will scare the crap out of you. That’s because you’re watching from a head-mounted camera as an engineer scales an antenna tower over 1,700 feet high. Created for The Online Engineer site, what this video captures isn’t just a…
